[VIDEO] Hennessy Artistry Miami at Ice Palace

Old school Hip Hop heads throughout Miami made their way to Ice Palace, former music venue space of Karu & Y, for the Miami leg of Hennessy Artistry 2010.

"Hosted exclusively by Hennessy, the four-city, invite-only tour is co-curated by Grammy Award-winning group, The Roots and multi-faceted artist, producer, singer, and actor Q-Tip. Making stops in Chicago, Miami, Detroit, and New York City, each show will feature special emcees and musical guests and friends of the curators. Now in its fifth year, Hennessy Artistry promises to be an innovative musical platform that brings together emerging performers and the most popular music artists of today, giving fans a once in a lifetime experience." And I'm here to let you know, this event did not disappoint.

From beginning to end, this was a top-notch production. While the invite was plastered all over the social media airwaves, it really was invite-only as most who RSVPed online received an "HENNESSY ARTISTRY PRIVATE CONCERT EVENT RSVP Declined" email shortly before the doors opened for the event. The event planners all held ipads and checked names at the door thoroughly.

No drama, or velvet rope ish. Name on list... No? Then keep it moving.
Once you walked in there were rows of lovely ladies with plated varieties of Hennessy infused cocktails for your sipping pleasure. First up for me was an apple-henney concoction. Crisp, refreshing, left me wanting more.

Let me take a moment to address the crowd. A very good look. I mean, sexy, sexy, sexy... and not the south beach, over tanned, over exposed pretentious type of sexy. I mean the eclectically styled, natural, Hip Hop swagged-out artsy type of sexiness. So kMc approved.

Continuing on through the venue there was the open Hennessy bar off to the left serving up other signature libations. Plated appetizers galore. The photog step-and-repeat toward the back, where groups of that sexy crowd I was talking about lined up to take snap-shots of the nights festivities.  The huge adjoining room off to the right is where the show would take place with VIP area off to the side. Gotta have VIP amongst VIP's. Catering to your media is a must.

My loyal readers know how much I adore small venues and intimate concerts. This was definitely one of those events. The stage was within arms reach, the crowd was vibin and swaying, the drinks were flowing. Lovely ladies and gorgeous gentlemen were enjoying each others company. Sheer dopeness.

DJ Irie warmed up the stage while D-Nice tickled the ones and twos. Then came the The Roots crew with your favorite drummer's, favorite drummer, Quest Love. Black Thought spit that fire as Qtip of A Tribe Called Quest bopped across the stage. Kat DeLuna and Aussie Daniel Merriweather mellowed out the show and just when you thought you'd get the chance to run off and fight the long lines of the rest rooms, first lady Eve graced the stage, looking surprisingly fresh to death. I was impressed. Her stage presence was still on point, moving through "Who's That Girl" and "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" before exiting stage right.

And then the surprise of the evening, Mr. Bobby Brown. Yup, Whitney's Bobby Brown. The crowd went bananas and I nearly lost my mind when the R&B bad boy performed "Prerogative". Bobby shut it down.

And you know we couldn't end the night without passing thru Max Pierre's AE District for the after party. VIP's continued to sip Henney as that after-hours networking Miami is known for worked its magic in the Magic City. Good times.

All and all, today's hangover was well worth last night's show stopper. Real talk, sorry for you if you missed it.
