Gen Art Halts All Operations

Today Gen Art, one of the leading arts and entertainment organization dedicated to showcasing emerging fashion designers, filmmakers, musicians and visual artists, announced via email to its numerous members and supporters that they have “finally succumbed to the recession.”

“It is with an extremely heavy heart that we are contacting you,” the email began. According to Gen Art founders Ian & Stefan Gerard, for the last 18 months the organization, with offices in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Miami, has been struggling to keep a float.

When a “corporate partnership unexpectedly collapsed a few weeks ago, [Gen Art] found themselves without sufficient resources or time to overcome the sudden and substantial loss of revenue.”

The organization had been operating for 16 years.
