M.I.A. "Graphic" Born Free Vid Commentary

Bottom line, I am a huge fan of M.I.A.

This video is just a another example of her social commentary. She uses her platform not only to entertain, but to shed light on issues that other “celebrities” would not touch.

Whether or not a celebrity considers their celebrity a platform to effect social change, it is just that, a platform to effect social change.

It is up to them to take advantage of it or not, however I ask, is it up to us to hold them accountable either way?

There was a day and age in this country, in this world really, that if you were blessed with an amplified voice it was your responsibility and duty to communicate the plight of your people in order to initiate change for the greater good.

Now it seems everyone wants to be a “star” but no one wants to shed light.

Publicity stunt or not, M.I.A. has spoken her mind on the irrational inhumanity of genocide and is obviously not just in it for the almighty dollar.

Kudos to her.

WARNING: video contains extremely graphic violence.
