Helping Haiti to rebuild is still top-of-mind for the Obama administration.

Today, on the three month anniversary of the catastrophic 7.0 earthquake that rocked the island nation, First Lady Michelle Obama, arriving by Army helicopter, made a surprise visit to Port-au-Prince to tour the ravaged capital.

The First Lady was accompanied by Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden and met with Haiti President René Préval and his wife Elisabeth Debrosse.

According to the most recent reports, the initial quake and several after-shocks have claimed the lives of more than 220,000 people.

“It’s powerful. The devastation is definitely powerful.” -Michelle Obama

I had the great pleasure of meeting our First Lady and her sincere warmth and concern in person is striking. So glad that she took the time to see the devastation first hand.

Haiti will not be forsaken.
